Dental Implants
Missing teeth can impair your image and quality of life. You may feel self-conscious about smiling, eating, or laughing in the company of others. Some patients must alter their diets because of limitations in the types of foods they can chew. Furthermore, missing teeth allow remaining to drift, which can contribute to occlusion problems, bruxism, and TMJ disorder. You may not realize this, but people with missing teeth are more likely to lose more teeth. You see, when you don’t replace missing teeth, your remaining teeth must work harder, so they can wear out faster.
If you want the most lifelike – looking and functioning – replacement teeth, turn to dental implants. These strong prosthetics feature a replacement tooth root and crown, so they mimic nature’s design.
After a thorough evaluation, Dr. Jane or Dr. Kevin will determine whether you would make a good candidate for implant dentistry. The first step involves a brief and minor oral surgery. A skilled specialist will secure implant posts into the spaces where natural teeth are missing. Titanium is biocompatible, so your jawbone will fuse to it and create an anchor for a replacement tooth. The final restorations will look amazing and blend seamlessly with your remaining teeth.
If your jawbone tissue won’t allow for implants, we can place mini dental implants to anchor your dentures. For mini-dental implants, three to four posts are surgically inserted into your gums, onsite in our Sioux City office. We will retrofit your current denture with abutments, and then the denture will then snap onto your mini dental implant posts. In some cases, a new denture is best. You will no longer need messy creams, and your dentures will never slip or loosen again.
